LSA Event to Feature PagesJaunes, CityGrid, Facebook

LSA logoI’m very excited to be a part of this year’s Local Search Association conference in Las Vegas in April (15-16). The program is varied and interesting with sessions such as:

  • What’s Working in Mobile
  • Print Directories in a Multi-Platform World
  • Sales Differentiation in the New “Loco” Marketplace
  • Scaling Social: Can It Be Done Cost Effectively?
  • Clicks, Calls & Leads: The Evolving Local Business Model
  • Automating Local Marketing for Efficiency at Scale
  • Building the “Local Commerce Operating System”

There are three keynote sessions:Remy

  • Jean-Pierre Remy, Chief Executive Officer and President, PagesJaunes Groupe
  • Jason Finger, Chief Executive Officer, CityGrid
  • Dan Levy, Director of Small Business, Facebook

Each of these should be interesting for different reasons. In particular Remy presides over a company that has successfully transformed from a traditional publisher into a digital media company. He’ll tell that story.

Finger, the former CEO of Seamless, will discuss the changing mobile and local landscapes and talk about what’s happening now at CityGrid.

I’ll also be interviewing Facebook’s Dan Levy, Director of Small Business, in the final session of the conference. I’ll be asking him about Facebook Nearby and Graph Search and how local plays into Facebook’s larger search strategy.

Dan LevyIn addition, I’ll be talking to Levy about the company’s efforts around SMB advertiser acquisition and its attempts to simplify advertising and make the self-serve model work for SMBs on Facebook.

Facebook said on its earnings call this week that “Local business Pages that advertise on Facebook nearly doubled since the beginning of 2012 . . . Almost 500,000 Pages have used Promoted Posts.” Yet Facebook also faces many familiar challenges as it pursues its SMB strategy, illustrated by the WSJ’s recent survey.

You’re welcome to submit questions to me (here in comments or email) for consideration in my interview with Dan. It will take place on April 16.

You can register for the event here.
